WHAT ARE THE DATES OF TOM’S 2017 TOURS?
Friday, June 2 to Sunday, June 11, 2017 (sold out!)
Tuesday, June 13 to Thursday, June 22, 2017 (sold out!)
—NOTE: Tom will also be hosting two tours in 2018. Dates will be posted ASAP!
We recommend that you arrive a day early so you will be rested and ready to go the next morning. That’s what most of the group will do, and most of us will meet for an optional informal get-acquainted dinner the night before the tour proper begins.
We will send you a list of B&Bs that we work with in the town of Bunratty, in County Clare near the Shannon airport—and we are happy to assist with booking your room for that night.
Don’t forget, you have to leave the US on the day before you expect to arrive in Ireland because the flights are usually overnight.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW DO I PAY?
The *cost of the tour is currently $2350 per person, based on twin/double occupancy… or $2850 for a single room. (Single room availability is limited.)
*This includes all ground transportation, 9 nights in small quality hotels or B&Bs (including breakfast each day), 3 evening group dinners, all pub music and private shows—with some of Ireland’s very best musicians and singer/songwriters.The payment schedule for Tom’s June 2-11, 2017 tour:
- Payment #1: $800 per person, shared room. $800 for Single. (Due as downpayment to hold seat on tour)
- Payment #2: $800 per person, shared room. $1000 for Single. (Due by January 10, 2017)
- Payment #3: $800 per person, shared room. $1050 for Single. (Due by April 10, 2017)
*Does not include travel to/from Ireland, though we are happy to offer suggestions and recommendations regarding flights and travel.
*Note: View Inishfree Tours cancellation policy at the bottom of this page.
WHERE DO I FLY?
Since our tour covers Ireland’s southwest coast, you will fly into and out of the Shannon Airport in County Clare.
If you prefer fly to Dublin, there is excellent, affordable bus and train service to the west coast.
WHERE DO WE STAY?
We will stay in very nice small hotels with breakfast included. Since we will travel around during the days and come back to our base hotel in each location, you won’t need to worry about packing up and moving every morning.
Locations (for June 2-11, 2017 tour)
Day 1, 2, 3………………………Skibbereen, County Cork
Day 4, 5, 6………………………Dingle, County Kerry
Day 7, 8, 9………………………Doolin, County Clare
WILL WE TRAVEL ON A BLUE HIGHWAY?
Well, we don’t think so, but you will see incredible shades of green!
One big plus for our group is that our superb Irish guide and skilled Irish driver are well versed in all things Irish. They are helpful and informative in the best ways, and they are quite adept at herding cats—plus they have that warm, wry Irish sense of humor.
We will also from time to time enjoy informative and entertaining day guides or local specialists who’ll add color and depth to our tour.
WILL I LOVE THE RAIN?
Yes you will! That is, we hope you will, because Ireland’s is a maritime climate–think Seattle or Vancouver in the summer–and the weather is sometimes all seasons in one day. We’ll give thanks for our sunny days and roll with the flow if it rains and blows.
Send us an email as soon as possible by emailing us at ireland(at)tomkimmel(dot)com and letting us know of your interest. We can also answer your specific questions. Our long time friend Vicki Belinoski will be coordinating the tours from the US side, and once you’ve signed on for the trip she will be staying in close touch and supplying all the info you’ll need. (Of course Tom Kimmel will also be available, once you’ve registered for a tour.)
Remember that this is a small, personal tour with limited space on the bus. Tours generally fill quite early, so if you are interested please email us as soon as possible. Once you are on board for the trip, we can start making plans!
Note: You do not need a visa to visit Ireland, just a valid passport.
ANYTHING ELSE WE NEED TO KNOW?
Yes, here are a couple of phrases you might want to know in Irish, the Gaelic language that is still used in some parts of Ireland that we will visit.
Sounds like: “SLAHN–cha”
(To your health!)
