i. Free Podcast Series
The first two of a series of podcasts (which I promised some time back) are now available for free at iTunes! If you have iTunes (which is a free application) on your computer, you can go to the iTunes store, search for Tom Kimmel and voila! You can then "subscribe" to all my podcasts (in which you'll get these two podcasts as well as future ones from this series), or you can just click on any individual podcast to download it.
Thanks to my great assistant/publicist Shauna Nicholls, who will be adding a new (also free) one-or-two-song podcast each month for the next few months, so keep checking back. And I'll remind you in upcoming newsletters.
[Featured this month is a short interview and the song "Nobody's Business."]
This first series of song podcasts is taken from a great house concert I played with my pal Michael Lille near Boulder this past January. Special thanks to Jon and Luana Eckhard for hosting the concert, and to Brian Patrick with OnSiteMedia for use of his footage.

ii. Dirty Linen article
There's a very nice Dirty Linen article about me in the June/July issue. To see an

iii. Postponing new album release
After careful consideration I've reluctantly decided to wait till early next year to
release my almost-finished new album of film and TV songs, having been advised that if I care for the album at all I'll do well to put together something called a "promotion plan." (Apparently I'm the only artist who's not hip to this concept.) I'm suspicious, but I want to try it out. In the past I've usually just put albums up on my website and sent out a couple of emails announcing the release. I'm told now that there's more to it! (FYI I do the final mix in NY with compadre Cliff Goldmacher the week of June 25, so it'll be good to go as soon as the stars align.)
b. Book: audio book
So in lieu of a 2007 album release I'll be completing and releasing my audio book (of The Sweetest & the Meanest, my book of poems). Shauna has found a studio that specializes in spoken word and voiceovers, so sometime soon I'll be doing the recording. [FYI I decided not to use the recordings I began some months back in my home studio, though the barking dogs, sirens passing on the road below, birds singing, jets overhead and teenagers roller skating on the floor upstairs would've added a lot of color to the audio!]
c. Teaching
It's not too late to register for any of the 3 songwriting retreats where I'll be
teaching over the summer. I greatly enjoy working with fellow artists and writers who want to immerse themselves in creative process and practice, and the community-connecting aspect of the retreats is sweet.
[See info below in tour listings.]
3. Drawing board
A new website is close to completion and will be online in the near future. It's going to be very cool, I am told!

At present Danny Flowers' new album, "Tools for the Soul" is playing in my car non-stop. First Danny Flowers song I ever heard was "Before Believing" on Emmylou Harris's debut album "Pieces of the Sky," and I've been enjoying him ever since. The Tennessean said of this album, "Danny Flowers takes the Delta blues to church." Emmylou called the album "remarkable" and said the songs are "a testament of hope, full of joy, from a faith earned the hard way, every day." Amen. Check it out:
