1. Greetings!
-Greetings from my favorite secret coffee shop in Nashville, where I rarely see anyone I know and am presently hiding in a dark cubicle with my laptop, a good cup of coffee and blueberry bran muffin... while it snows outside...

a. Music News:
New Album in the Works! A light came on somewhere around New Years Day that my next album should be a long-dreamed-of collection of songs I've written that have been featured in films and television, and voila(!) work is underway. Cliff Goldmacher has signed on to produce the assembly, additional recording etc. and at present I'm collecting mixes and multi-track recordings of the songs - including three of my favorites that were written for films and rejected!
The final selection of songs depends in part on my ability to get licenses, permissions etc... but here's the tentative line up:
1. Never Saw Blue Like That (featured in "Runaway Bride," "Party of Five" & " Dawson 's Creek)
2. Hardline (featured in "Navy Seals" and "Harley Davidson & the Marlboro Man")
3. When You Know (featured in "Serendipity" and "As the World Turns")
4. Angels (re-mix of Short Stories or Sherpas track)(featured in "Under the Lighthouse Dancing")
5. Brother to Brother (featured in "Twins")
6. One World (featured in "Princess In Love")
7. The One (featured in "Miami Vice")
8. See Myself In You (re-mix with TK vocal of Sherpas track) (featured in "Touched By An Angel")
9. Shallow Water (featured in "Touched By An Angel")
10. Trip on Love (re-mix of Short Stories track)(featured in "Cruel Intentions")
11. Sidda's Song (written for "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood")(rejected)
12. Fairy Tale Love (written for "Maid In Manhattan")(rejected)
13. Silver Lining (written for "Stewart Little 2")(rejected)
14. What Can You Do When We're Too Young to Go to School (featured in "The Captain Kanagaroo Show")
If you have a favorite song of mine (that's appeared in film or TV) that's noton the list, please let me know! Also, any suggestions for naming the album will be welcomed. I've thought about "Sound Tracks," "Bijou," "Film Clips" etc. (You can email me at ptclear@yahoo.com)
b. Website News:
We have finally trashed the old tragi-comic MESSAGE BOARD at my website and replaced it with the nice, EASY-AS-PIE-TO-USE "Comments" box on my MySpace page. Click on the Message Board tab at www.tomkimmel.com and scroll down to the Comments area when the MySpace page comes up... Or you can go directly to www.myspace.com/tomkimmelmusic

a. Audio Book
I'll soon resume recording the audio book version of The Sweetest & the Meanest."
b. Song Book for Guitar
My friend Jim Moran has agreed to help me put together a song book of some of my favorite songs. It'll feature lyrics, chords and tablature. Most likely we won't see the book in print until 2008, but I will be looking for YOUR input on songs you'd like included. I get frequent requests for music for "The Blue Train," "Shallow Water," "Angels, " "One Heart" and others... and publishing a song book would make many of these requested songs available.
I'm not sure yet, but it's possible that we'll also include piano music for some of the piano-based songs like "Never Saw Blue Like That," but for the moment we're looking at a guitar-oriented songbook. (Because I play guitar!)
More on this in the coming months, but if there are songs you'd like included, please email your ideas and requests to me at ptclear@yahoo.com

--I'm seeing and hearing so much inspiring work these days that it's hard to narrow down my list! But here's a hard-core sampling:
a. The Doyle and Debbie Show
--Bruce Arntson's creation is an amazing and unique creative achievement in performance art, well worth a special trip to Nashville to see! My wife's already seen the show 6 (yes, six) times... and we're seeing it again next week!
Check it out:

b. Several amazing films are circulating. Among them I cannot recommend these highly enough:
Children of Men (Alfonso Cuaron deserves a medal, or an Oscar.)
Pan's Labyrinth (Very deservedly nominated for Best Foreign Film.)
Freedom Writers (Hilary Swank produces and stars. Hats off.)
Peace!
