1. Greetings!
-Greetings from a fast train somewhere between
Copenhagen and Stockholm! I am very much enjoying my
second tour of Scandinavia.
2. News: Music, Book & Christmas Sale
--Music News
Just Plain Folks Award -- I just received an email
from my friend and sometimes co-writer Melody Guy that
our song "Mistakes Like Me" just won the Just Plain
Folks Country Song of the Year Award! Also Melody has
won Female Vocalist of the Year! Thanks to Just Plain
Folks and to everyone who voted for the song. It's a
special one to me and Mel; we wrote it for someone
dear to her.
For more on Just Plain Folks and the Awards, visit
www.jpfolks.com
And please check out Melody's music at
www.melodyguy.com
Workshops -- I just completed teaching a 5 day
workshop in Copenhagen for the Danish Artist Forbund
-- a musician's union. Brett Perkins made the
arrangements and provided expert support throughout
the workshop. Interestingly, I'm having an escalating
number of opportunities to teach my peculiar approach
to songwriting, and I am enjoying that tremendously.
BTW Brett, who is a fine singer/songwriter in his own
right, is masterful at planning and facilitation
workshops, and I highly recommend his retreats in
Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, California and other exotic
locales.
Check him out at www.brettperkins.com

you're into downloading eBooks, note that 'The

THE BOOK (cover and interior) by visiting Amazon.com
and checking out the "Look Inside the Book" feature on
the page listing my book.

able to sign those copies prior to purchase.
BOOK READINGS -- I have so enjoyed giving recent book
readings, and I welcome more of opportunities. I'm
happy to read at bookstores or schools or elsewhere
while I am on tour. Please email me from the Contacts

suggestion for me.
3. Recommended
As Christmas gifts go, you can't go wrong with a copy
of Truman Capote's "A CHRISTMAS MEMORY" -- perhaps my
favorite piece of short fiction ever. It's simply a
masterpiece. Incidentally, it is a true
autobiographical story set in Monroeville, Alabama, my
home town.
(Hint: avoid the illustrated version! The
illustrations seriously detract from the work, which
is pure poetry.)
Check out Eva Hillered's music. I just performed in
Stockholm with Eva, and I am a real fan. Visit her
unique website and listen to songs at
www.evahillered.se (Click on the Union Jack for the
English language version.) Her most recent album "Life
Line" is a joy, and you can avoid paying import
shipping by ordering it from
www.cdbaby.com/evahillered
4. Acknowledgments
Everyone who tours or attempts to make a living in
the arts knows that a lot of helping hands are
required.
Thank you to Richard Mekdici & Sue Kroupa-Riley at
Itoi Ministries wwww.itoi.com and best wishes with
their ongoing work -- their own music and their
support of New Thought Music and all
music-from-the-heart.
Thanks to Michael Boesen for lodging me in
Copenhagen, making me feel right at home. (Michael is
also a talented singer/songwriter. Check him at
www.michaelboesen.dk)
Thanks to Klaus Caprani & Laila Jensen for arranging
national radio exposure for me on Danmarks Radio, and
to deejay Kurt for the live performance, the spins and
the great interview.
Thanks to Reed's Bookstore in Tupelo, Mississippi --
one of the finest independent bookstores in the South.
It was an honor to read and perform there last month.
Thanks again to Brett Perkins for booking my return
tour dates and workshops in Denmark and Sweden. Thanks
too to Geordie Garriock, John Lansner, Eva and Peter,
Ninna Milner with the DAF, Martin Hoybe and others too
numerous to mention for hosting shows or otherwise
taking care of me in Scandinavia.
Special thanks to my sister Helen Monts. Helen gives
so much and so quietly to her family, friends and
community, and I often forget to thank her enough for
her ongoing support of my music and poetry. Thanks,
Hebbs.
5. Food for thought
"I think that people want peace so much that one of
these days governments had better get out of the way
and let them have it."
Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890 - 1969)
